  • Deep in the heart of the Ouseburn Valley in an 1847 John Dobson flax mill.

    Now a hub of creative studios and workshops.

    I am on Level 1 of 5 levels and my four windows looking out onto the Ouseburn tidal river.


  • Yes, you can park in McPhees Yard/Ouseburn Car Park, off Foundry Lane across the Ouseburn River.

    Charges are 70p per hour for 4 hours. You are then allowed to stay another 4 hours if you are attending a full day course, you just need to go out and extend your booking time.

    If you book on a course, I will send you location maps and photographs of how to get to the side door entrance. Parking is free on a Sunday.


  • Anything that isn’t open toes or sandals, as glass pieces when grozing could fall onto your feet.

  • Yes. I do provide a small range of teas, fresh coffee, and squash, plus biscuits. 

  • It is only accessible through the fire exit. A side entrance along the slipway. The fire exit door is green. However, access is across original cobbles, so wheelchair access is bumpy. Our one unisex toilet has four steps, so is not accessible. In the past the Ouseburn Farm was open daily and has an accessible toilet. Their opening hours have changed now. I have two different heights of table to work at. 

  • The fee covers all tuition, materials, and kiln firings. If you wanted to use additional materials, there will be a charge for them.

  • Yes, if you’ve been sandblasting. 
No, if you’ve been fusing, as the work will need to be fired and collected later. 

  • There are trays of smaller cut pieces that do not need to be cut. Just glued. Standard glass cutters may be difficult to hold, but the grips cutters should be easier to use. Help is always at hand. If you mark what piece of glass, you’d like to be cut with a sharpie marker, I can cut the glass for you.

  • Yes, you can! 

  • Of course! I am happy to hold a special session for you and your group/team at a convenient time for us all.

  • Please do not wear gloves as it impedes your cutting.

    It is advisable to wear safety glasses.

    If you see someone behaving in a way that may cause an accident, please say something to them. If you’re not sure, ask me. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
